WVU business school accepting West Virginia Business Hall of Fame nominations
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — WANTED: Outstanding members of the business community who have shown extraordinary leadership, demonstrated a commitment to their community and have strong ties to West Virginia.
West Virginia University’s College of Business and Economics is now accepting nominations of individuals for induction into the West Virginia Business Hall of Fame. Nominations will remain open through August 15, 2012, with the induction ceremony scheduled for November 8 in Morgantown.
“The College is excited about opening nominations for the Business Hall of Fame,” said Dr. Jose Sartarelli, Milan Puskar Dean, WVU College of Business and Economics (B&E). “Those who have been inducted since the inception of the Hall of Fame in 2001 have set the bar very high. That group is made up of pioneers, visionaries and entrepreneurs who have left a very definitive mark on our state.”
Hall of Fame inductees last year included Stuart M. Robbins, Fred T. Tattersall, Douglas R. Van Scoy and Kimberly B. Knopf. To date, 50 businesspeople have been inducted.
“Publicly recognizing extraordinary business leaders and establishing a record of their achievement is important for many reasons,” Sartarelli said. “These individuals and their contributions remind us of the constant need for renewal and change and the opportunity for economic success, particularly in West Virginia. Moreover, they serve as role models for our state’s business students, those just beginning their careers and for new entrepreneurs.”
Sartarelli added, “By honoring these leaders and their accomplishments, we honor our heritage and draw inspiration for the future.”
