Leitersburg Cinemas To Support Aurora Victims through Weekend Fundraiser and Matching Donation
Hagerstown, Maryland — Leitersburg Cinemas, a 10-screen independent theater in Hagerstown, Maryland, announced today it has joined along side the National Association of Theater Operators (NATO) to help support the victims and families of the Aurora tragedy last week.
Leitersburg Cinemas will be donating $1 of every movie ticket sold on Saturday, July 28th and Sunday, July 29th to help support the Aurora victims. In addition, Leitersburg Cinemas has also committed an additional dollar-for-dollar matching donation from the ticket sales over the weekend.
“Our hearts go out to the victims and their families who were devastated by this senseless act of violence. In addition to taking steps this week to ensure a safe entertainment venue, we also wanted to do our part to help the victims on behalf of Leitersburg Cinemas, the greater tri-state community and other independent theater operators around the country.” Rich Daughtridge, Co-Owner of Leitersburg Cinemas.
In a press release to independent theater operators earlier this week, John Fithian, President & CEO of NATO said, “Our industry, as it has countless times before, stands ready to help those in need. Many of you have expressed your concern and asked our guidance on how best to respond to help the victims and their families. We have been working within the industry and with the community leaders in order to give you some direction.”
Leitersburg Cinemas’ donation will be made to Community First Foundation, http://www.communityfirstfoundation.org, a 501(c)(3) public charity with a history of effectively and efficiently targeting resources in Colorado to help people in need during times of crisis.
