Go mental!
“Make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than you. Each of you should look not only to your own interests but also to the interests of others.” Phil 2: 2-4
Your mindset sets the spirit of your surroundings. The spirit of your surroundings determines the degree of satisfaction you experience in your situation. Everything starts with a thought. Thoughts give birth to attitudes. Attitude sets the tone of your atmosphere. What you choose to dwell determines what and who you are devoted to. Devotion decides the quality of your daily encounters.
At any given moment you are living in unity or division. Your mental preoccupation is the filter though which any relationship must pass. You cannot control other people’s actions or reactions. But you do choose how you will respond to what others do and say. This choice, made dozens of times daily is the most accurate predictor of your on-going happiness.
Too often, it is far easier to act and react out of your flesh than to respond in the Spirit of Christ. Your mind defends your flesh. Your spirit defines how God desires you to reply to what is going on around you. You choose in each and every encounter whether flesh or spirit makes the call in your reactions. No one can make you think anything or do anything. You choose your conversations and your conduct every time and in every way. What comes out of your mouth and what is seen in your manifestations toward others reveals what is truly controlling your heart.
Set your mind on Christ. See others through the lens of His love. Choose to ignore more than you choose to receive. Most of what happens in life is not worth giving your time and attention to. Focus on the larger goal. Look ahead to what God is going to do. See where the Lord is leading you and make haste to get there no matter what obstacles are placed in your path.
Think” good”. Talk about the goodness of God. Many others will point to what the enemy is doing or has done to them. You must lift the level of your talk to heavenly things. It no longer matters what occurred yesterday. This is the day that the Lord has made. Choose to rejoice and be glad in it!
Today, the direction your mind is pointed to determines where you will wind up. Thus, if you want to be in a better place, change where you put your thoughts.
