EPEF Event, Specialty businesses that thrive on celebrating special occasions!

t is the time of year where gift giving is front and center on everyone’s mind. Our January 7th program will feature Cathy Sweeney from Total Basketcases and Pam Wagoner of Depot Florist discussing the seasonal cycles of their businesses. We’ll discover which holidays are their best sellers, how they market themselves throughout the year, and how they stay successful in between the holidays. Join us as we learn how these specialty businesses started, evolved and thrive!
Cathy Sweeney from Total Basketcases started her business in the basement of her home while in her career as a full-time teacher. She has always enjoyed gift giving, so in 2001, she began her journey as a business owner creating a one stop, gift-giving shop, where all gifts ‘come from the heart’. With the motto “We’re crazy about gifts…so you don’t have to be!” join us as we celebrate the journey of Total Basketcases. http://www.totalbasketcases.com
Pam Wagoner started Depot Florist in 1998 in the restored historic B&O Train Station in Martinsburg with one employee and lots of backup support. As the business continued to grow, Pam bought her current building in 2003 located at 532 West King St. She currently has three employees and several seasonal workers. Celebrating their 12th year in business, Depot Florist is a full service flower shop that has stayed strong even in this restless economy. Pam will discuss how she gears up for seasonal extra work and how she adjusts business to meet demand. Valentines Day is the busiest holiday for florists. http://www.depotflorist.com
