City Club Announces Spring Speakers

February 17  Lynn Hocker has taken an historic home and made it super energy efficient which provides excess energy back to the existing power grid. Lynn’s business is now operating in the historic structure: The Whispering Creek Renewable Energy Center which provides a working model demonstrating the balance between the natural and built environments;  and serves as a platform for developing sustainable and pragmatic business and environmental strategies for success.  Lynn will tell us what you can do for your business building or home to have dramatic savings.  West Virginia is known for energy.  Why not Martinsburg as a power generator?  With an historic heart!

March 17   St. Patrick’s Day and the Virginians are coming.  Actually, Museum of the Shenandoah Valley’s Julie Armel will show us how the Museum has contributed to Winchester and the Top of Virginia Region, just as a museum could do for Martinsburg.  The City of Martinsburg brands itself as the “Northern Gateway to the Shenandoah Valley” - what better way to focus on the history and culture of our Valley region.

April 21  West Virginia Public Broadcasting will join us from Charleston to discuss a focus on our region and community, We ARE the growth region of the State.

May 19  Several bold new initiatives for downtown Martinsburg are expected and you will hear about them at the City Club luncheon.

The City Club meets at noon, in The Martinsburg Room of the Main Library, King and Queen Streets, Martinsburg (Parking behind BB&T Bank).

The City Club is a forum of residents, businesses and property owners who meet monthly to learn about ways to support the vitality and preserve the historic quality of Martinsburg.  The luncheon cost is $10 for those who email a reservation. We can only provide luncheon for those who make an advance reservation by noon, February 15th.  Please confirm your reservation via e-mail with your name, phone number and the number in your party to: .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address), http://cityclubofmartinsuburgwestvirginia.blogspot.com/ or http://sites.google.com/site/cityclubsite/
