An Exciting Day for Bags of Love and One Hope

One Hope Ministries International, a local non-profit, exists for one reason: to bring our community together. Unity rather than separation is our highest goal. One Hope is churches, businesses, schools, non-profits and area residents coming together as one community. One Hope is about partnership: people working together rather than everyone doing their own mission. This is what makes One Hope the choice of so many in making a significant difference in our region.

One Hope Ministries International is also pleased to announce our new Community Missions Coordinator: Misty Francis. Misty is a teacher at Orchard View Intermediate School, a mother of four and a humble, energetic woman of high integrity and faithful service. She has taught in Berkeley County for 14 years. She is a graduate of Shepherd University and a member of 365 Church, Martinsburg (http://www.365church.org).

Misty brings strong administrative skills, high trustworthiness, an ability to work well with others and a team-based spirit. She is responsible for coordinating the popular “Bags of Love” weekend feeding program for area school children, she serves on the Uni-fest Team (annual backpack giveaway August 12 at Lambert Park), and she will coordinate the holiday community ministries: Gobble Walk at Thanksgiving and Coats of Love for Kids at Christmas.

“Bags of Love” is now feeding over 500 children weekly and all summer long. Uni-fest has provided thousands of free backpacks and school supplies for over six years. Coats of Love has distributed hundreds of free winter coats into area schools. Gobble Walk gives away hundreds of free turkeys each Thanksgiving to area families.

Bags of Love is also now partnering in a spirit of community unity with Berkeley County Backpack, Inc. This wonderful organization feeds over 200 children in area high and middle schools as well as lower grade schools mainly in the north end of the county. Bags of Love and Berkeley County Backpacks have teamed up to feed children together rather than separately. This is at the heartbeat of One Hope: doing community ministry together rather than apart.

Misty Francis holds high this community unity priority. Misty knows and loves people. She does so with a gentle grace and relational spirit which draws others in and which excludes no one. She is well-respected by her fellow educators and has been helping in the Bags of Love Program for the last year. Nothing pleases her more than giving herself for the benefit of others with no expectation of recognition needed.

Your school, church, business and non-profit group will easily fall in love with and desire to work alongside Misty as we expand our children’s feeding mission all across the region so that no child goes hungry over the weekend.
