Places to go, people to see and things to do

Truth be told – I ‘m not going anywhere, not seeing anyone who isn’t already in my house and don’t have a thing to do.  I am snowbound.  Though what’s really disconcerting is how unnerving it is to be at the mercy of others.  Don’t get me wrong. I am warm, comfortable, have plenty of food and water, a dog to keep me company and a spouse with two cats to keep me alert.  No - what has bugged me the most is the fact that I am succumbing to the age old ‘cabin fever.’  There isn’t one place I can think of that I need to go to right now.  Truly not one.  Yet, I am having a bit of difficulty adjusting to the reality that even though I don’t need to go anywhere – I cannot go anywhere even if I wanted to.

I’ve done the tried and true methods of relief. Read a good book.  Made some chocolate almond fig clusters and ate more than I should.  I may even finish off the chips.  I’ve slept in the middle of the day - twice.  I refuse to clean house as that just feels wrong.  I did have a few moments of some serious fun sledding down a very mild slope.  Digging thru two feet of snow for an appropriate base wore me plum out though the tumbles during and after construction provided much needed laughter having figured out we were still days away from seeing Route 9.  Ah travel is but a dream.

It is all relative of course.

My parents were without power for over 2 weeks after that major ice storm hit the Midwest.  The ice melted within a week and they could travel though it was ill advised due to the downed power lines.  The thought of being without power – that would make this situation oh so much worse.  It’s been reported most power has been restored within the panhandle.  That’s the good news.

The bad news – well – more snow is expected very very soon.
