Fifth Annual Berkeley Springs Fall Birding Festival
The Fifth Annual Berkeley Springs Fall Birding Festival will be held in historic Berkeley Springs, WV, the weekend of September 21-23.
The festival, sponsored by the Potomac Valley Audubon Society, is timed to coincide with the annual fall bird migration. It is aimed primarily at beginning and intermediate birders but anyone is welcome to attend, including families with children.
The festival will include Friday and Saturday evening programs at the Ice House in Berkeley Springs, bird walks and workshops during the day Saturday, and a bird walk Sunday morning.
All the daytime events are free. A $10 ticket will provide admission to both evening programs.
This year’s featured presenter will be Sharon Stiteler, a Minnesota naturalist and freelance writer who authors the popular “Birdchick.com” blog.
Her blog has been recognized in the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, and on NBC Nightly News. Her writing has appeared in WildBird, Outdoor News, and Birding Business.
Also participating will be Marcy Heacker, a forensic ornithologist at the Smithsonian Institution, and raptor biologist Liam McGranaghan.
