Sleepy Creek Mountain Inn

Sleepy Creek Mountain Inn bed and breakfast is a romantic getaway for couples nestled in the hills outside of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia. It was built as a log frontier home by a settler and his family in the early 1800’s. An addition to the home was completed in approximately 1809 to accomodate the growing frontier family. Robert and Elta Winstead purchased the home in 1960 and in 1975 the final addition was completed. This two-story addition included modern bathroom facilities and central heat. In 2001, Robert and Elta’s son Dale did a complete restoration and the home was converted to an inn.

The inn takes guests back to a simpler time before the Civil War. Settlers were self-sufficient, farmed the land, and raised cattle. The simplicity of rural West Virginia is reflected in the modest beginnings of this farming community. The inn is completely furnished with period antiques and reproductions. Every effort has been made to keep the simplicity of the home, allowing guests to get lost in the warm atmosphere of the inn and the surrounding countryside.

Each of the guestrooms is decorated in a country theme. Rooms feature a queen size bed and in-room two person whirlpool tub. Our most popular room boasts a rustic stone fireplace with gas logs. The inn is completely air-conditioned and has modern facilities, while maintaining the integrity of a frontier log home. The front porch is a favorite place for guests to enjoy evening sunsets and catch a glimpse of the many horses, deer and turkey roaming over the farmland.

We’re open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Check-in is from 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Other check-in times by appointment.  Sleepy Creek Mountain Inn accepts Visa, Master Card and Discover. Gift Certificates are available.
