There are many services I wish would come to Berkeley County. Most of which are in surrounding counties, but with gas being so high, I am not going to drive across the county line to get to them. So if there are any entrepreneurs out there, listen up.

I would like to see the following come to Berkeley County; an indoor/outdoor aquatic center. It should have several pools both indoor and outdoor, pools for little kids, pools with slides and other fun things, pools just for swimming laps, pools for adults only. Can you imagine it? The schools could have swim teams. Oh wait, if we don’t have money for teachers where are we going to get money to support a swim team, but that is another topic for another day.

How about a kid’s only gym or some other place for kids, it doesn’t have to be Chucky Cheese, but a place where kids could explore and discover things. I read about something like this online one day. Inside there was half a fire engine, a huge ant farm, interactive things, kind of a Discovery Zone, but more geared toward engineering. Oh I know, a warehouse full of inflatable toys, a moon bounce, slide, a ball pit or two. Yes, I understand that I could rent these things and have them set up in my yard, but what fun would that be?

Here is something fun for all ages, an amusement park. Just think of the revenue that it would bring into the county, not to mention, traffic, litter, and some crime. Hey, think of all the jobs. Where would it go and do we have the infrastructure to support such a place? Maybe an amusement park is not a good idea.

Lets not forget something that all businesses need, ”We Shred It”. It doesn’t have to be that brand name. I am sure you have heard the commercials on TV. There is a big truck with a huge shredder in the back of it that shreds all your personal documents. With twenty-one banks just in Martinsburg alone, I am sure they would do good business, or do banks already have shredders in their basements? I would check into it before opening this type of business.

A yoga studio, wouldn’t that be nice? Since having babies, I could use some relaxing mediation. I know exactly where it could go, in the new building beside the Papa Johns Pizza on Foxcroft.

I am sure north and south end of the county could use a large park/playground. War Memorial Park in Martinsburg is really nice. Why not give Inwood and Falling Waters a nice large park like the one in Martinsburg, a park with bathroom facilities, ample parking and various age appropriate play equipment or even handicap accessible play equipment. Then where would the county get the money? The county would probably want to create a levy or raise taxes and that wouldn’t get supported.

Of course just like any person that likes to shop and eat close to home, I have many retail and eating establishments that I would like to see in the county. There are too many to mention just drive to Frederick, Maryland or Winchester, Virginia and look around and you will see them.

When I told my husband the topic of this article, he told me to pick something and open it your self.

Question to self: Why not? I guess I could just apply myself and do it. Where would I find the time?
