Matthew Umstead of the Hagerstown Morning Herald has reported in an article on the Herald-Mail Online that "Teachers across the state, including those at Eastern Panhandle schools, are being asked by union leaders whether they would support a possible strike, West Virginia Education Association Executive Director David A. Haney said Monday evening."

Umstead also reported that "Haney said it was apparent to him that the levels of frustration statewide concerning the pay issue were greater in some areas than others. He noted news reports last week from Morgantown, W.Va., that Monongalia County school teachers were planning to take part in what was being called a "blue flu" and not report to work sometime this week."
Apparently, Monongalia County teachers chose today (03/06/07] as their "sick day" as all Monongalia County schools are closed according to the WV Department of Education website.

This week's poll question is simple 'Would you support a strike by WV teachers?' Vote below , or on our homepage and feel free to add your opinions about the teachers strike below.
