Shepherdstown, WV -- Goose Route Arts Collaborative’s New Live Arts series, informal showings of new work and works-in-progress, continues in 2008 with the next two showings on Friday, January 18 and Friday, February 29, at 6 pm and lasting approximately 1 hour. The January showing will take place at the Shepherdstown Train Station, Audrey Egle Drive, Shepherdstown. The February showing will take place at The Arts Centre, King Street, Martinsburg, WV. Admission is free. Performing artists of any genre or style (music, spoken word, stand up comedy, mime, dance, juggling, etc.) are invited to sign up for a slot by contacting Goose Route at 304-876-6751 or gooseroute@frontiernet.net.
Inaugurated in September, 2007, NLA has provided an important forum for performing artists to share their work in a supportive setting, with the opportunity to converse with the audience and fellow artists afterwards in a Q&A and feedback session. NLA serves both artists and audiences. Performing artists of any genre are given the opportunity to hone their work in a performance setting and to receive audience feedback, if they choose. Audiences at NLA showings have the opportunity to observe the creative process unfold and learn more about how an artist takes a piece from inception to completion.
Highlights of the Fall, 2007 season included Tim Whittemore playing the Australian didgeridoo; writer Earl Hairston reading from his novella; dancers Beth Burkhardt, Colleen Tracey, and Tosha Tillman; poets Ed Zahniser and Elizabeth Kennedy; Rob Northrup and his men’s choir from Shepherd University; and young dancers from Hedgesville High School.
