As I shared with you in my bio I have freedom to write about anything and everything which interests me. If you have read any of my articles you know that business, finance, faith, and the health of our environment are some areas that interest and concern me. I also shared with you, the readers, that if there is something that interests you, and I’m made aware of it, I would investigate and if possible write on the subject. This morning a friend called and asked if I would consider doing... More about: Obesity, a great danger for all!
In listening to the ongoing debate on global warming and recognizing the capricious nature of the energy industry and oil producing nations, I realize (and I'm certain that I'm really late to the dance), that we need to utilize our skills and resources to find cleaner and more effective ways to heat, cool, power and drive us. So with that being the case I have purposed to search the web to find sites and resources which will keep the good folks of the Eastern Panhandle more... The first annual Homegrown for Hospice: Local Fare & Local Wares was held on Monday, November 10, 2008 at the Anvil Restaurant in Harpers Ferry. PARKERSBURG, W.V. – The West Virginia Convention of Southern Baptists passed a resolution Friday calling on their membership to support a marriage protection amendment to the West Virginia Constitution. At the present time with all the financial uncertainty which we are experiencing we’re being bombarded with financial terms that are foreign, and definitions that are unknown such as sub-prime, credit default swaps, Libor, toxic paper, derivatives, 201K plans (as opposed to former 401K’s), and the government TARP programs. Many of these are unknown because they are terms for things which never existed until recently. But, two financial terms that are being thrown around today are more... More about: Who Do You Trust?
The genesis of this article is from a story I recently read on cnnmoney.com titled "Cars : 6 Chinese Knock-offs" by Mina Kimes. It is the story of China’s entry into the international car market. Folks, in today's global economy diversification is more or less a necessary element to the program if the Chinese are to continue to prosper and grow a middle class.... As I went through my daily cruise through some of the various financial internet sites which interested me this morning, I came upon this headline. “Retailers report steep sales declines in October; Wal-Mart was among the few exceptions." The article went on to say this, “ the nation's retailers saw their sales plummet last month to what is likely the weakest October level in decades, as the financial crisis and mounting layoffs left shoppers too scared to shop.” Folks,... At least one local customer is raving about the recently expanded menu at Tony’s NY Pizza and Italian Restaurant in Berkeley Springs. Opened in May of this year, the owner Alberto Calderon now offers a lunch and dinner buffet. And since everything is going so wonderfully, he’ll be expanding to eventually have a seating capacity for 150 people, possibly another location too. Banquet and catering services are also available. The place is definitely hopping. On Friday nights you may even... More about: "The Spaghetti Sauce is AWESOME!"
A fine time was had by over 200 supporters of Hospice of the Panhandle at their annual dinner fundraiser hosted by the Morgan County Clergy Association and held in the Chuck Morris Family Life Center at Berkeley Baptist Church in Berkeley Springs. The delicious and hearty meal of ham, fried chicken, and a variety of side dishes was supplied by many of the churches in Morgan County, and as one who sampled many of the homemade goodies I can attest to the fact that no one in attendance was...
