Martinsburg, West Virginia – If you like to eat BBQ, why not become a certified BBQ judge in just one afternoon? The Martinsburg –Berkeley County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) will be hosting a Kansas City BBQ Society (KCBS) judging seminar where participants will learn to competitively evaluate BBQ chicken, ribs, pork and brisket based on taste, appearance and texture. The seminar will be held May 3, 2008 from 11:00am to 3:00 pm at the CVB office located at 115 North Queen Street in Martinsburg.

Those who complete the seminar will be KCBS certified and invited to judge at Pickin’ in the Panhandle, the WV BBQ and Bluegrass Festival on September 6 and 7 at the Lazy A Campground in Back Creek Valley. Competitions include professional and backyard BBQ, with winners taking home cash prizes and braggin’ rights. The cost is $35, which will be waived for those who agree to be a judge at Pickin’ in the Panhandle. Advance reservations required by April 27.
